Mobile driver’s licenses are coming to Samsung Wallet: Everything you need to know

Samsung has partnered with IDEMIA, a global leader in digital identity solutions, to bring mobile driver’s licenses to Samsung Wallet. Arizona and Iowa are the first states to roll out mobile driver’s licenses in Samsung Wallet, with other states expected to follow soon.

Mobile driver’s licenses are digital versions of your physical driver’s license. They can be stored on your smartphone and used as proof of identity and age. Mobile driver’s licenses are just as secure and accurate as physical driver’s licenses, and they offer a number of benefits, such as:

  • Convenience: Mobile driver’s licenses are always with you on your smartphone, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting or losing your physical driver’s license.
  • Security: Mobile driver’s licenses are encrypted and protected by your smartphone’s security features.
  • Privacy: Mobile driver’s licenses only share the information that is necessary for the specific task at hand. For example, if you are using your mobile driver’s license to purchase alcohol, the merchant will only be able to see your name, date of birth, and photo.

To use a mobile driver’s license in Samsung Wallet, you will need to download the Samsung Wallet app and create an account. Once you have created an account, you will need to add your driver’s license to Samsung Wallet. You can do this by scanning your physical driver’s license or by entering your driver’s license information manually.

Once your driver’s license is added to Samsung Wallet, you can use it to prove your identity and age. To do this, simply open the Samsung Wallet app and select your driver’s license. You can then present your mobile driver’s license to the merchant or government official.

Mobile driver’s licenses are a convenient, secure, and privacy-focused way to prove your identity and age. Samsung is working with IDEMIA and several states to make mobile driver’s licenses available on Samsung smartphones.
